I Am a BELIEVER!

Updated: Mar 24, 2022

Rome is a mesmerising city and the romans take a lot of pride in their heritage. Why shouldn’t they… after all The Roman Empire is covering pages and pages of history books as many as their invasions and captures. Their colossal architectural structures keep one wondering how did they create this without the modern day machines, their art and craft, fashion and even food is one of the most popular cuisines nowadays. All this would not have been achievable if they didn’t Believe in their own calculations, intelligence and their prodigious amount of talent.

Self Belief & self confidence cannot be instilled with the click of a button…it is in the environment you are growing up in.

WE are all born with an innate sense of confidence…

As children start interacting they observe different behaviours and acts within their peers with the understanding that they may or may not have the ability to do it within their capacity. (*)

In this constant process of discovering their abilities, children start developing their self esteem and confidence.

What is the difference between the two you might ponder.. with my professional hat on.. I’d say.. when a child comes in happily and wants to interact with his / her peers or adults around them is Self Esteem. And when a child is willing to have a try, explore, discover or learn new things is Self Belief or one can even coin the term as Self Confidence.

The two terms are intertwined: To create the self belief we have also need to develop their self esteem ..

Children mirror our responses and reactions to situations or certain topics.

They connect with our experiences and knowledge, developing their own understanding gradually!

Demonstrating a positive attitude in all kinds of situations is key in developing a strong self esteem! And a strong self esteem will harbour the self belief needed to achieve great things!

Motivate them to chase their dreams even if it means creating different pathways and crossing turbulent bridges....

Opinions… opinions… are welcome.. not just to have one but LOTS of them. Challenge each of these opinions in open discussions to open a world of thought processes.

Improvise your inner being rather than the exterior because trust me YOU are AWESOME as you are!!

A young boy once said to me, “ It doesn't matter what others think of you, what matters is what you think of yourself!”

We sometimes practise rephrasing comments or statements grammatically to change a ‘negative statement’ to a ‘positive statement’. Trust me, as little as that does the trick to begin with.

(*) Who decides this capacity ?.. the child or the parent / carer? - Would love to hear your thoughts!
